2 years as Technical Designer at Wushu Studios, working in partnership with Undead Labs:
Pure systemic design focused on Unannounced systems, including extensive documentation, ownership, and coworking with other teams (Art, Design, Code, Client, …).
Technical design in Unreal Engine, ensuring features are developed with high technical flexibility and maintenance in mind. My features have weathered through 2 years of scope change and iteration, evolving and adjusting to the needs of the company, while serving as the foundation for much of the systemic gameplay being developed. This has ensured some reduced technical debt in the long run.
Feature ownership, maintaining oversight over development and advocating implementation across a range of departments Gameplay Code to Art, to Tech Art, SFX, VFX, etc. My role was to guide for the completion and quality of these features and negotiate across departments to ensure the best trade-offs possible, providing timely deliveries while mitigating risk.
Tool Design and implementation, to support the development, testing and iteration of features.
Systemic Balancing of systems, including creating and maintaining balance tools using Excel, and tweaking gameplay elements for better user experience.
Due to my background in software engineering, i was also able to dive into occasional Gameplay programming in Unreal C++ to directly tweak Game Feel and/or simplify data configurations for non-technical coders, all while being held to the same coding standards as the programming team.
